Neftchi has successfully concluded negotiations with Freddy Vargas, a player from Israeli club Maccabi Netanya.
Idman.biz, citing Futbolinfo.az, reports that the Venezuelan national team midfielder has accepted the offer from the Baku-based club.
The Israeli club has also agreed to the transfer.
Vargas is expected to arrive in Azerbaijan soon to formalize his contract with his new team. A product of Deportivo Lara in his home country, the 26-year-old playmaker will experience playing abroad in Azerbaijan after stints in the USA and Israel.
Vargas last played for the Venezuelan national team in March this year during the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in a match against Ecuador. Although his agent claimed they had received no offers, it seems this statement was meant to mislead.
