Three-time Vezina Trophy winner Glenn Hall dies at the age of 94

Three-time Vezina Trophy winner and 1961 Stanley Cup champion Glenn Hall has died at the age of 94.

According to Idman.Biz, citing the National Hockey League press service, the legendary goaltender passed away in a hospital in the Canadian city of Stony Plain. It is reported that his health deteriorated in December.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman commented on the loss, highlighting Hall’s immense contribution to the game. “Glenn was a tough, reliable and incredibly talented goaltender, and his record remains unmatched to this day,” Bettman said, adding that “it is almost unbelievable, especially considering that he played without a goalie mask.”

Glenn Hall played in the NHL from 1951 to 1971, representing Detroit, St. Louis and Chicago. He took part in 13 All-Star Games, won the Stanley Cup with Chicago in 1961 and was named the league’s top goaltender three times during the regular season. Hall also holds one of the oldest records in NHL history, having played 502 consecutive regular-season games.
