The Irish specialist shared his thoughts ahead of the first leg of the UEFA Champions League playoff against the Azerbaijani champions: "The strengths of the two teams are almost equal. If we play as we want, we can cause significant problems for our opponent. In such matches, the key is not to concede goals because we have good forwards up front and will definitely have opportunities to score. The opponent is a strong collective. However, this is a great opportunity for us, as the chance to reach the group stage of the Champions League in recent years hasn’t been that high. This is good motivation for both the players and the coaching staff."
The coach added that he did not watch the match between the two sides three years ago: "Both teams have new players. I have watched the current games of the Azerbaijani club."
The Ferencvaros vs. Qarabag match will take place on August 19 at 23:00 Baku time. The return leg will be held on August 27 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium, starting at 20:45.
