Milan midfielder Luka Modric has shared his thoughts on Jose Mourinho, the head coach of his former club Real Madrid.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the Croatian midfielder believes the Spanish giants already look different at the start of the new season.
"From the first matches, you can already see that this is a different Real Madrid. I see a Real Madrid that inspires fear and that I like. I think Mourinho's appointment was a very good decision for the club, perhaps even the best possible choice considering this team," Modric told Diario AS.
The 41-year-old also recalled that Mourinho played a key role in his move to Real Madrid. According to Modric, the Portuguese coach personally insisted to the club's management that they sign him.
Despite working with Mourinho for only one season, Modric said he learned a great deal from him. He particularly highlighted the Portuguese coach's approach to preparing for matches, saying his players took to the pitch already knowing what to expect during the game.
Modric believes Real Madrid will be a dangerous opponent in every competition under Mourinho.
"I think he is in the right place. Real Madrid are the best club in the world, and Mourinho is one of the best coaches in history. This combination will strike fear into the others," he said.
The Croatian also believes Real Madrid should focus on their own performances rather than Barcelona. According to Modric, the Madrid club should not be concerned about what their rivals are doing. Instead, other teams should be worried about Real Madrid.
