“There was no doubt that after the away win, 'Sabah' would also outperform their opponent at home.”
This is what former coach of the Azerbaijani national team Arif Asadov said in an interview with Sport24.az, Idman.biz reports.
The experienced specialist shared his thoughts on the Azerbaijani representative's 4–1 victory (after a 2–0 win in the first leg) over Moldova's "Petrocub" in the second leg of the UEFA Conference League second qualifying round: “It was important to take the second match seriously and not become complacent. The team approached it seriously and was motivated. The same lineup has been used in recent matches. It was also clear they were well-focused for the match. The course of the game showed 'Sabah' was clearly superior. Their skill level was evident. The opponent tried to do something but lacked the quality to deliver the final blow. 'Sabah’s' attacking potential has increased significantly. This has been noticeable since the arrival of the new head coach. They are more active in attack and play creative football. The team has found a balance.”
Asadov also said the Azerbaijani team can perform well in the next round: “Much depends on the opponent. 'Sabah' is playing higher-quality football with each game. In this respect, they have a chance to reach the main stage of the Conference League. Of course, they must be more attentive tactically and on the counterattack.”
In the third qualifying round, "Sabah" will face Bulgaria’s "Levski" (Sofia).
