The 1/16 final fights of the Men’s World Boxing Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, have concluded.
Idman.Biz reports that, according to the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation, two Azerbaijani boxers advanced to the next stage on the fifth day of the tournament.
Maqsud Khasmetov (63.5 kg) faced Pacific Niyonzima (Rwanda) in his debut match and won by knockout in the third round. Khasmetov will face Ruslan Qafurov (Tajikistan) in the round of 16.
Serkhan Aliyev (71 kg) eliminated Bonifatsiy Mayna (Kenya) with a 4:1 score (29:28, 29:28, 28:29, 29:28, 30:27). The world championship bronze medalist will compete against Arturs Vaisla (Latvia) in the round of 16.
It should be noted that the World Championships will conclude on December 13.
