A bus that was due to be used by São Paulo during their trip to Bolivia for a Copa Sudamericana match was found to be carrying 86.5kg of marijuana.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the incident took place in the Cochabamba region. During an inspection of the bus, police officers discovered the drugs concealed inside four bags.
Three drivers responsible for the vehicle were arrested as part of the operation. The bus belonged to Buses Cosmos, a company providing transport services for São Paulo during their trip to Bolivia.
However, no direct link between the incident and the club has been established. São Paulo representatives said the team did not use the bus in question. The company provided a different vehicle at the previously agreed time, meaning the incident did not cause any logistical problems for the squad.
São Paulo travelled to Bolivia for their Copa Sudamericana round-of-16 tie against Bolívar. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
