The first day of competition in the International Badminton Tournament dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, among Turkic-speaking countries, has been concluded.
Idman.biz reports that five categories of badminton players representing Azerbaijan, Turkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan were played.
In the competition held at Shamakhi Olympic Sports Complex, the badminton players of Azerbaijan Dicky Pangestu and Muhammad Khadafi Amri, who won their first two matches in the individual competition of male badminton players, will meet in the semi-finals. Turkish badminton player Emre Lale and Kazakhstan representative Makhsut Tadzhibullaev will face each other in the other semi-final pair.
Hajar Nuriyeva and Era Maftuha, the Azerbaijani representatives, managed to rise to the top four in the personal fight of female badminton players. Hajar Nuriyeva will face Turkish badminton player Ozge Bayrak in the match to reach the final. Era Maftuha's opponent in the semifinals will be determined in the match between Diana Garamova (Uzbekistan) and Aisha Zhumabek (Kazakhstan).
Ali Gozalov and Sarkhan Baghirov will compete in the semifinals with the Dicky Pangestu- Muhammad Khadafi Amri tandem in the men's badminton doubles competition. Serhat Salim-Yusuf Ramazan (Turkiye) will face Khaitmurat Kulmatov-Makhsut Tadzhibullaev (Kazakhstan) in the other semi-final pair in this category.
In the women's couples competition, Narmin Huseynova-Nigar Samadova will compete with Aisha Zhumabek-Nargiza Rakhmetullayeva (Kazakhstan) in the semi-finals. Another finalist in this category will be determined in the duel between Ilayda Nur-Sare Ece (Turkiye) and Diana Garamova-Viktoria Rudakova (Uzbekistan).
In the mixed doubles category, the badminton players who will compete in the 1/4 finals are known. Muhammad Khadafi-Era Maftuha pair will face Kazakhstan representatives Makhsut Tadzhibullaev-Dilyara Jumadilova in the match to advance to the semi-finals. Ravan Niftaliyev-Narmin Huseynova will meet the other badminton players of Azerbaijan Dicky Pangestu-Hajar Nuriyeva.
Adilet Kubatbek-Jasmine Aisarova (Kyrgyzstan) - Bugra Aktas-Sinem Yildiz (Turkiye) and Gafforbek Jabborov-Diana Garamova (Uzbekistan) - Khaitmurat Kulmatov-Nargiza Rakhmetullayeva (Kazakhstan) will face off in two more 1/4 final matches.
The final matches of the tournament will be held on November 8.
