No qualified athlete from Azerbaijan on the first day
The Azerbaijani national women's wrestling team finished the European OG Qualifier 2024 without a license.
Idman.biz reports that Mariya Stadnik, the only representative of Azerbaijan who reached the semi-finals, stumbled on one step of the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games.
Mariya, who won 10:0 victory over Gabija Dilyte (Lithuania) in the quarter-finals at 50 kg, lost to Oksana Livach (Ukraine) in the semi-finals, qualifying for Paris-2024 - 2:4.
Until then, the other wrestlers of Azerbaijan could not get a license either. Elnura Mammadova (53 kg), Birgul Soltanova (62 kg) and Elis Manolova (68 kg) stopped fighting in the qualifying round, Jala Aliyeva (57 kg) was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
It should be noted that our national team finished the day without a license in the Greco-Roman wrestling competitions held on April 5. Tomorrow, free wrestlers will fight on the mat.
