The inauguration of the Heydar Aliyev Cup on mountain skiing was held in Gusar under the organization of the Federation of Winter Sports and Shahdag Tourism Center.
Idman.biz reports that the general secretary of the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation, Gunel Badalova, and the chairman of the Shahdag Tourism Center, Rustam Najafov, took part in the event held at the Shahdag Tourism Center.
It was reported that about 60 amateur athletes in 6 different age categories will compete in giant slalom. Men and women in 18-25, 26-45 and +46 age groups will reach the finish line in the Heydar Aliyev Cup organized among amateurs.
The winners will be awarded with medals and diplomas by the Shahdag Tourism Center and the Winter Sports Federation, as well as various incentive gifts.
The main purpose of the competition is to promote winter sports in the country, to increase the interest in skiing among people, and to expand the center's experience in organizing international competitions.
It should be noted that Heydar Aliyev Cup will be continued on February 17 among adults and children on snowboard, and on February 24 among children.
