Emma Raducanu suffered a heavy defeat in the third round of the Canadian Open, winning only three games in a 6-2, 6-1 loss to Wimbledon finalist Amanda Anisimova. Despite holding a 2-0 head-to-head advantage going into the match, Raducanu was overpowered by the world number seven, managing to hold serve just twice.
Idman.biz, citing BBC, reports that Anisimova produced 29 winners compared to Raducanu’s five and capitalized on 22 unforced errors from the British number one. The American, who reached her first Grand Slam final just a month ago, has now won 14 of her last 17 matches — the most on the WTA Tour during that stretch.
The victory also marks her 50th win at WTA 1000 events, underlining her consistency and form. Anisimova advances to face Elina Svitolina, who cruised past Anna Kalinskaya 6-1, 6-1 in her previous match. Raducanu, meanwhile, will look to regroup after a disappointing exit.
