Rafael Leao sets sights on Champions League success with Galatasaray

Galatasaray's new winger Rafael Leao has spoken about the club's ambitions and its history of attracting some of football's biggest names.

İdman.Biz reports that the 27-year-old Portuguese international believes Galatasaray should be capable of competing with Europe's leading teams. His comments were made in an interview cited by Fanatik.

"I have always known about Galatasaray. It is a big club. Great legends have played here – Drogba, Hagi, Sneijder and others. Moreover, this club was created to beat big teams from other leagues and the strongest clubs in the Champions League. I believe the club should always be at the highest level," Leao said.

The winger joined Galatasaray from AC Milan during the summer transfer window. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is currently estimated at €50 million.

Leao's arrival adds further attacking quality to the Istanbul club as it looks to maintain its domestic ambitions and compete on the European stage. Galatasaray have a long history of signing internationally recognized players, including Didier Drogba, Wesley Sneijder and Gheorghe Hagi, who remain among the most celebrated figures in the club's history.

The Turkish side won the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 2000, achievements that remain the club's greatest successes in European competition.
