AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim has come under criticism over his handling of young striker Francesco Camarda, with questions growing about the lack of opportunities given to the Italian prospect.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing Tuttomercatoweb, the Portuguese manager is facing scrutiny for failing to deliver on his promise to give the 18-year-old more playing time this season.
The latest controversy followed Milan's 3-0 away defeat to Bournemouth in the third round of the UEFA Europa League, when Camarda remained on the bench throughout the match.
Despite the absence of first-choice striker Gonçalo Ramos through injury, Amorim opted not to introduce Camarda. Instead, 20-year-old Alfadjo Cissé was deployed in the central attacking role.
The Italian publication recalled Amorim's comments from August 27, when he publicly expressed confidence in the young forward.
"I want to be in a situation where I have to play Camarda. He needs to feel important and understand that he is the second striker, not the third. He will get playing time. I really believe in him," Amorim said at the time.
However, nearly two months after those remarks, Camarda, born in 2008, has played just over an hour of first-team football this season.
The situation has raised questions about Milan's approach to developing one of Italy's most promising young talents, particularly given the club's demanding schedule across domestic and European competitions.
Milan have lost two of their opening three Europa League matches this season, although they remain unbeaten in Serie A after seven rounds.
