Indian tennis player and coach Radhika Yadav, 25, was shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their home in Gurugram on Thursday.
Idman.biz, citing ESPN, reports that the former ITF singles and doubles competitor had transitioned into coaching and was running a tennis academy, which became a point of conflict with her father.
According to police, Deepak was upset over local taunts claiming the family relied on Radhika’s income. Despite repeated requests, she refused to close her academy. In a shocking admission, Deepak told police he shot her three times from behind.
Radhika had played 36 singles and 7 doubles matches on the ITF circuit, with her last singles match in March 2024. An FIR has been filed at Gurugram Sector 56 police station, and police are continuing their investigation.
