Maria Sharapova to Attend INMerge Innovation Summit in Baku

Former world No. 1 tennis player and successful entrepreneur Maria Sharapova will participate in the INMerge Innovation Summit in Baku.

As reported by İdman.Biz, citing Trend.az, the international event will take place at the Baku Congress Center from November 30 to December 1.

The summit will bring together prominent figures from the worlds of technology, business, innovation and economics.

Among the announced speakers are Mo Gawdat, former Chief Business Officer of Google X, Greg Hoffman, former Chief Marketing Officer of Nike, and Joel Mokyr, winner of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences.

Sharapova is one of the most recognizable figures in the history of women's tennis. Representing Russia throughout her professional career, she won five Grand Slam singles titles and claimed 34 WTA singles titles.

She also earned a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games and spent a total of 21 weeks at the top of the WTA world rankings.

In recognition of her outstanding achievements and contribution to the sport, Sharapova was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2025.

Following her retirement from professional tennis in 2020, Sharapova successfully transitioned into entrepreneurship and investment, establishing herself as an influential figure in the international business community.

She currently serves on the board of directors of luxury fashion brand Moncler and is also the author of a book that appeared on The New York Times bestseller list.

Her participation in the INMerge Innovation Summit highlights the event's growing international profile and offers an opportunity to explore how elite athletes can successfully transition into business and investment after their sporting careers.
