Novak Djokovic Announces Departure from PTPA

Former world No.1 Novak Djokovic has announced his decision to leave the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), an organization he co-founded, Idman.Biz reports.

The PTPA was established by Djokovic and Canadian doubles Wimbledon champion Vasek Pospisil with the aim of protecting the interests of professional tennis players. Explaining his decision, the Serbian tennis star said that concerns had emerged regarding the use of his voice and image, as well as the overall governance of the organization.

"I have made the decision to step away from the Association. This is related to questions about how my voice and image were used, as well as broader issues in the management of the organization. Clearly, my values no longer align with its direction. This chapter is closed, but I wish all players and everyone involved the best. I remain focused on tennis, my family, and contributing to the development of the sport in the way I see fit," Djokovic wrote on social media.

In 2025, the PTPA was involved in legal action against tennis governing bodies, including the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), the International Tennis Federation (ITF), and the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). In its lawsuits, the PTPA pointed to what it described as "systemic abuses and a blatant disregard for player welfare that has continued for decades."
