The world championship among young taekwondo players has started in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
İdman.biz reports that the Azerbaijani national team won a medal on the second day of the competition.
Shams Alizadeh (160 cm) managed to take place on the podium of Azerbaijani team. Joining the fight from the 1/16 finals, our taekwondo player defeated the representatives of Egypt, Serbia and England and qualified for the semi-finals. On the way to the final, Alizade defeated the taekwondo player of the Republic of Korea. Shams faced Kazakhstan athlete in the final. Alizade won the silver medal as the rival athlete won the tense battle.
It should be noted that the world championship will last until September 1.
