Ruslan Lunev: "It was a bit difficult to compete at the European Championship"

It was difficult to compete at the European Shooting Championship held in Chateauroux, France.

Azerbaijani athlete Ruslan Lunev, who won a silver medal at the tournament, stated this in an interview with Report news agency, Idman.biz reports.

The 36-year-old athlete, who finished second in the 25-meter center-fire pistol event, recalled that he had previously never returned from European Championships without a medal: “In 2019, I won gold, in 2021 bronze, and in 2022 and 2024 silver medals. I don’t return from European Championships in this discipline without results. This time, it was a bit difficult to compete. Honestly, I could have achieved a better result. I had a problem with my hand, so I couldn’t perform the final shots well.”

For the record, Ruslan Lunev scored a total of 583 points and 26 inner tens (shots closest to the center of the target) over six rounds. With this result, he was second only to Ukrainian athlete Pavlo Korostylov. Although both athletes earned the same total score, the advantage in the final series determined the gold medal winner.
