Four Azerbaijani judokas will compete today at the 2026 World Judo Championships in Baku, with the host nation looking to add to its impressive medal tally.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Madina Kaisinova (+78 kg) will represent Azerbaijan in the women's competition, while Jamal Gamzatkhanov, Ushangi Kokauri and Kenan Nasibov will compete in the men's +100 kg category.
Kaisinova will begin her campaign in the round of 32, where she will face Italy's Asya Tavano.
Gamzatkhanov will enter the competition in the round of 64 against Chilean judoka Francisco Solis.
Meanwhile, Kokauri and Nasibov will start their campaigns in the round of 32. Kokauri will take on Kyrgyzstan's Emirkhan Yoldoshkaziyev, while Nasibov will face the winner of the contest between Germany's Losseni Kone and Serbia's Vidak Maljevic.
The World Championships, held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, will conclude on October 11.
Azerbaijan has already secured five medals at the tournament. Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg) claimed gold, Zelim Tckaev (81 kg) won silver, while Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg), Omar Rajabli (81 kg) and Murad Fatiyev (90 kg) earned bronze medals.
The five-medal haul has already made the home championships a historic event for Azerbaijani men's judo, surpassing the country's previous record of three men's medals at a single edition of the World Championships.
