Japanese judoka Sanshiro Murao, who won gold at the World Judo Championships in Baku, has praised Azerbaijan's hospitality and the enthusiastic atmosphere at the National Gymnastics Arena.

As reported by İdman.Biz, the champion in the men's 90 kg category shared his impressions of the host country in an interview with Report.az.

"This is my third visit to Azerbaijan, and every time I receive a warm welcome. The atmosphere at the National Gymnastics Arena and the people's great love for judo are truly wonderful. I think Azerbaijan is a very beautiful and hospitable country. I would like to thank your people," Murao said.

The Japanese athlete also reflected on winning his second consecutive world title, highlighting the importance of maintaining his dominance on the international stage.

"I also won the World Championships last year, and now I have claimed gold for the second year in a row. Of course, this makes me very happy. I have achieved the goal I set for myself. I wanted to prove my superiority by winning consistently, and I am delighted that I managed to do so," he added.

Murao secured the gold medal after defeating his compatriot Goki Tajima in an all-Japanese final in the 90 kg division.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's Murad Fatiyev also reached the podium in the same weight category, claiming a bronze medal for the host nation.
