The basketball tournament of the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games was marked by a record.
It was announced by the press service of FIBA, Idman.biz reports.
1 million 78 thousand 319 spectators watched the tournament of men's and women's teams. This is the highest indicator in the history of the Olympics.
In Atlanta 1996, this number was equal to 1 million 68 thousand 32. Less than 52 matches were held in the French capital, and the average number of spectators was equal to 20 thousand 737. On average, 21 thousand 711 spectators watched the matches of the men's teams, and 19 thousand 763 spectators of the women's teams.
A new audience record for women's basketball games held in Europe was also recorded. 27 thousand 193 spectators watched the match between Australia and France (79:72).
