"The game was very tense. I don't think the match should have ended with this result. Unfortunately, we failed to take advantage of the chances we created at the beginning. We had opportunities to score an early goal, open up the game and even extend our lead, but we couldn't convert our chances."
Azerbaijan national team midfielder Abdulla Khaybulayev made the comments after the 0-0 draw against Liechtenstein.
Khaybulayev also spoke about the team's psychological state following the disappointing result.
"It is really difficult to recover after a match like this and focus on the next game. But no matter what, we have to do it because we have no other way and no other chance. If we don't win the upcoming match, we will have no chance left. That is why we have to give everything we have on the pitch," Khaybulayev told futbolinfo.az.
The draw with Liechtenstein saw Azerbaijan drop important points in their UEFA Nations League campaign, increasing the pressure on the team ahead of their next fixture.
