The appeal trial of kickboxer Tulin Alakbarova, accused of hooliganism, has concluded at the Baku Court of Appeals.
According to Idman.Biz, citing Pravda.az, the session chaired by Judge Murad Mammadov resulted in the appeal being denied.
The case stems from an incident in a Baku restaurant, where Alakbarova, allegedly intoxicated, attacked a woman. Reports indicate that while socializing with her acquaintance Sevda A. and two others, Alakbarova consumed alcohol, and her condition worsened. Both women entered the restroom, where Sevda A. blocked others from entering.
When the victim, Kamala M., tried to enter, Sevda A. stopped her, leading to an argument. Responding to the noise, Alakbarova struck Kamala M. with punches and kicks. Alakbarova claimed she was drunk at the time and hit Kamala M. only after seeing Sevda fall.
The victim stated that Sevda A. initially tried to prevent her from entering the restroom. After a few minutes, Kamala M. pushed past Sevda, triggering the altercation. Alakbarova then struck Kamala M., hitting her with punches and kicking her as she fell.
Kamala M. demanded 5,000 manat in compensation, citing temporary inability to work due to injuries, and confirmed filing a complaint against the kickboxer.
Following the incident, Alakbarova was arrested but released after two days under police supervision.
The lower court, Narimanov District Court, found Tulin Alakbarova guilty of hooliganism and sentenced her to six months of restricted freedom. The appeal court has upheld this decision.
