Idman.biz reports that this was said by Nurlana Mammadzada, the general secretary of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation.
She told journalists after the opening ceremony of the 29th Azerbaijan championship in rhythmic gymnastics that this type of sport is developing rapidly not only in Baku, but also in the regions. "Gymnastics continues to grow in popularity, which makes us very happy. Gymnasts of different age groups will perform in this championship, for some teenagers this is the first competition in their career. "Participants demonstrate a new program, later they will present it in the international arena."
The General Secretary of the Federation added that Baku is waiting for several big competitions in rhythmic gymnastics, including the World Cup in April and the European Cup in May. Junior girls will also participate in the latter, so the national championship is a test of strength for promising athletes in this age category.
It should be noted that up to 60 gymnasts are competing in the Azerbaijan championship, which will last until March 23.
