Interview with Qarabag goalkeeper Mateusz Kochalski for Futbolinfo.az.
- When you joined Qarabag, did you expect to play in the Champions League?
Playing in the continent’s biggest club competition is every player’s dream. It’s an amazing feeling. Of course, I feel very happy. We started the season with a historic result, which makes us extremely proud.
- Which big teams would you like to play against?
Honestly, I haven’t thought much about that. I don’t have a specific desire to play against any particular team, and it doesn’t matter who is in our group. Naturally, playing in big stadiums against top teams is a special experience. But I can say that playing against Real Madrid or Barcelona is one of my dreams.
- You are the third goalkeeper for the Polish national team. Do you expect any progress after this result?
It’s hard to say. Our national team has high-level goalkeepers who play in strong European leagues. Of course, I always try to do my best. I think I need to perform consistently at a high level. The decision will be made by the new head coach of the national team. We will see how it goes together.
- What can you say about the save you made in the final moments of the match?
You mean the ball I blocked after the header? (Laughs) Yes, it was like the final moment of the match… It was instinctive. I’m very happy I managed to do it. We were able to advance to the Champions League, and this is a great joy for me.
