The veteran footballer, who once wore Qarabag’s jersey and now serves as the head of the Scouting Department of AFFA’s Technical Department, shared his thoughts on the “Qarabag” qualifying for the UEFA Champions League phase again after 8 years: “It was a tense match. Words cannot describe it. Thank God we qualified for the Champions League again after 8 years. We will play against magnificent teams. Once again, I thank Qarabag. I wish them success in the next matches. We may get to watch giants like Barcelona, PSG, and Real in Baku. Just hearing the names of these clubs makes you excited (laughs). Personally, I would love to see Barcelona in Baku. Yesterday at the press conference, coach Gurban said he wouldn’t want Barcelona as opponents. But reaching this stage is magnificent. From here on, it will only be valuable experience. I’ve been a passionate Barcelona fan for years. I would love to see them in our country. That’s not only my dream but also the dream of millions of football fans.”
Although the Qarabag – Ferencvaros game ended with the visitors’ 3:2 victory, Qarabag qualified for the Champions League phase based on the aggregate score of the two matches.
