Qarabag's Brazilian defender Mateus Silva has admitted that the team is struggling to rediscover its best form, insisting that the players must respond to supporters through their performances rather than words.
"Our message to the fans should not come through words, but through what we show on the pitch. We will work as hard as possible and give our answer on the field," Silva said.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing Teleqraf.az, the 29-year-old defender made the remarks following Qarabag's goalless away draw against Gabala in the 10th round of the Azerbaijan Premier League.
"To be honest, we faced difficulties on the pitch. We had problems building up play and organizing attacks. We need to learn from this match and focus on the next one. We will analyze our mistakes to make sure they are not repeated. This time, we have to settle for one point and move forward," Silva explained.
The Brazilian also thanked Qarabag supporters for their continued backing, describing their support as extremely valuable to the team.
Addressing the club's inconsistent performances and difficulties in scoring goals this season, Silva pointed to changes in the squad as one of the main reasons.
"Players leaving and new ones arriving is a normal process in football. It happens at every club. We are currently going through that process and experiencing a period of adaptation. However, everyone is working hard in training. We are doing everything possible to return to our previous level. I believe things will improve with time," he said.
Silva also warned that Qarabag should not expect easy matches in the coming weeks.
"Every team wants to beat Qarabag, so we cannot expect any easy games. The international break will be important for us to understand each other better in training. We will try to achieve a positive result in our next match. We must be prepared for every challenge," he added.
Qarabag currently sit third in the Azerbaijan Premier League standings with 19 points, two behind leaders Neftchi.
