The start of the 2025/26 Misli Premier League season was marked by draws.
Out of the five matches played in the first round, three ended in a tie, Idman.biz reports.
The matches “Karvan-Yevlakh” vs. “Gabala,” “Neftchi” vs. “Shamakhi,” and “Zira” vs. “Araz-Nakhchivan” all finished with the same 1:1 scoreline. Having three draws in the opening round is a first since last season.
The last time three draws occurred in the first round was in the 2015/16 season, which also featured five matches.
The previous instance of multiple draws in the season opener dates back to 2012/13, when four out of five matches ended without a winner.
A total of 10 goals were scored across the five first-round matches this season. The average of 2.00 goals per game is the lowest in the opening round over the past five seasons, matching the 2.00 average from the 2020/21 season.
One match from the first round was postponed.
