Interview with Neftchi’s French right-winger Imad Faraj on their away match against Imishli (0:0) in the 2nd round of the Misli Premier League.
First of all, we would like to know your thoughts on the game…
It was a tough match because the opponent was defensive and waiting for counterattacks. When we play against such teams, we need to find gaps and create more transitions. Of course, we had two or three chances, but we couldn’t score. We need to be more effective going forward.
What do you think about the artificial turf? Did it affect your game?
Yes, I think it did, because I played on artificial turf when I was 15, meaning I hadn’t played on it for about 10 years. But that’s not an excuse. We need to improve in every game and make the most of the opportunities we create.
After two games, you’ve only scored one goal, and that was from a penalty. What can you say about the difficulties in scoring?
We had chances, but we need to finish them better and be sharper in front of the goal. Our attacking line needs to improve.
What are your thoughts on the team’s goals and objectives for this season?
Neftchi is a big club, and we should have big goals too. We will do our best to become champions. Of course, we know it will be difficult, but it’s only the second game. I hope the next match will be better.
How has your adaptation to Azerbaijan been, and what are your thoughts on playing football here?
This was my first game because I had been injured for two months. I played my first match after two and a half months. But there’s no problem. I hope to return to my best form soon and help the team.
