“We are a newly formed team. We have brought in new players.”
Idman.biz reports that this was stated by Shamakhi’s head coach Aykhan Abbasov in an interview with Sport24.az.
The coach shared his thoughts on preparations for the 2025/2026 season: “Our three-week preparation went as planned. We tested our strength in friendly matches. The players are gradually reaching full form. We want the team to perform well and get results from the first round. We will improve as we play more matches.”
Abbasov also revealed the position they aim to strengthen: “We intend to bring in a new player for the defense. We have few defenders, which is challenging for us. We will see how it goes.”
The head coach also spoke about transfer plans: “This issue is almost settled. If we find suitable players, we will add one or two more to the squad.”
The Misli Premier League season will start on August 15, with Shamakhi visiting Neftchi in the first round.
