Agdam’s "Qarabag" claimed a resounding victory over North Macedonian side "Shkendija" in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, advancing to the play-off stage of the competition, as reported by Idman.biz.
After a narrow away win in the first leg, Gurban Gurbanov’s team demolished their opponents 5-1 in Baku. The match began poorly for the home side when a defensive error on the left flank allowed Tamba to put "Shkendija" ahead 1-0, leveling the aggregate score at 1-1.
However, within six minutes "Qarabag" equalized through an own goal by Tsake, and just two minutes later Kady Borges gave them the lead. In the 33rd minute, Nariman Akhundzade made it 3-1 after a precise finish from Zoubir’s pass. Two minutes later, Marko Jankovic converted a penalty to extend the lead to 4-1.
In the second half, "Qarabag" continued their dominance, with Leandro Andrade scoring the fifth goal in the 59th minute.
Thus, "Qarabag" defeated "Shkendija" with an aggregate score of 6-1 and advanced to the next round.
In the Champions League play-off qualifying round, the Agdam club will face Hungary’s "Ferencvaros", who eliminated Bulgaria’s “Ludogorets” (0-0, 3-0).
