“Qarabag is strong enough to compete with both teams.”
Former Azerbaijan national team player Bakhtiyar Musayev shared his thoughts with Idman.biz on Qarabag’s chances in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.
The Aghdam-based club will face the winner of the tie between Shelbourne (Ireland) and Linfield (Northern Ireland), and Musayev believes Shelbourne holds a slight advantage:“In my opinion, Shelbourne is just a bit stronger than Linfield. Both opponents are manageable, but Qarabag’s preparation for these matches will be crucial. The team has parted ways with several players, so bringing in quality replacements is a must.”
The former Qarabag midfielder also pointed out the challenges that lie ahead for the club in Europe:
“Reaching the league stage of the UEFA Champions League is extremely difficult. Not every team can get there. Let’s hope our representative brings us success in the continent’s top club competition.”
The second qualifying round matches are scheduled for July 22–23 and 29–30.
