“I invite minifootball fans to the National Gymnastics Arena,” said Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sports, in a statement to journalists.
Speaking about the upcoming Minifootball World Championship to be held in Baku, the minister highlighted the national team’s rising profile, Idman.biz reports.
“Our team became European champions in 2022, which significantly boosted their recognition. In last year’s World Championship, our team performed strongly, securing fourth place. Now, the World Championship is taking place in Baku. Playing in front of home fans carries great responsibility, and I am confident our team will deliver a strong performance. The team is preparing diligently for the championship,” Gayibov said.
He also expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation: “The federation has played a crucial and exceptional role in organizing the championship, and I thank them for their efforts.”
Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov has confirmed that the National Gymnastics Arena—set to host the Minifootball World Championship—is fully prepared for the competition.
“Our players are here, the atmosphere is positive, and we are all ready for the championship,” Gayibov stated. “It has been a while since a ‘Fan Zone’ was organized. As you know, many world and European championships are held in Azerbaijan. Thanks to the support of the state and the country’s leadership, numerous sporting events are successfully hosted here.”
He emphasized the importance of promotional activities surrounding such tournaments: “I would like to thank the organizers, as the Fan Zone plays a crucial role in enhancing the event experience. There are many ways to engage people, and a Fan Zone is one of the most effective promotional tools.”
The championship is scheduled to run from May 21 to June 1.
