Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has commented on the ongoing case involving Manchester City's alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing the English media, the Dutch defender emphasized that he had enjoyed the intense rivalry between the two clubs but preferred to separate events on the pitch from matters outside football.
"The only thing I can say is that the case is still ongoing. I have really enjoyed this rivalry, but that concerns what happens on the pitch. What happens off the pitch is a completely different matter," Van Dijk said.
The experienced defender stressed that it would be inappropriate to express an opinion before the proceedings are concluded.
"Since the case has not yet been finalized, it would not be right for me to comment on it. Once the matter has been properly resolved, I will certainly share my thoughts. For now, let's wait and see what happens," he added.
Manchester City face allegations of more than 100 breaches of Premier League financial regulations. The charges relate to various aspects of the club's financial reporting and compliance with league rules.
The case has attracted considerable attention across English football, particularly given City's domestic success and their long-standing rivalry with Liverpool.
The Manchester club have denied wrongdoing, and a final decision in the proceedings has yet to be announced.
