Lazio head coach Gennaro Gattuso has responded to criticism of his managerial career, insisting that his achievements have often been overlooked.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, the former AC Milan midfielder rejected suggestions that his coaching career has been marked by repeated failures.
"I haven't failed everywhere I've worked. People talk about me as if I'm some kind of wanderer, but all you have to do is look at the statistics," Gattuso said.
The Italian specialist emphasized that small margins had prevented him from achieving greater success at several clubs.
"Everything comes down to individual moments. With Milan and Napoli, I missed out on Champions League qualification by just one point. With Hajduk, I lost the league title in the final round," he explained.
Gattuso, who won the 2006 FIFA World Cup with Italy as a player, has managed several prominent European clubs, including AC Milan, Napoli, Valencia, Marseille and Hajduk Split.
His coaching career has featured both successes and setbacks, including winning the Coppa Italia with Napoli in 2020.
Despite criticism of his managerial record, Gattuso has made an impressive start at Lazio. After six rounds of the 2026/27 Serie A season, the Rome-based club occupies second place in the standings with 16 points.
The strong opening to the campaign has given the 48-year-old coach an opportunity to silence his critics and demonstrate his ability to compete at the highest level of Italian football.
