“We're very happy that such a prestigious tournament is being held in our country,” said Elshad Guliyev, head coach of the Azerbaijani national minifootball team, in a statement to journalists.
Speaking about the team’s preparations for the upcoming World Championship in Baku, Guliyev expressed satisfaction with the progress:
“Everything is going well. Our main goal is to advance from the group stage. After that, we’ll see how far we can go. We've made tactical and technical changes to build a more modern team. I believe we’ll see a stronger side of our squad. We'd love to have fan support behind us.”
He added that they’ve carefully analyzed their group rivals:
“The first match will be crucial. If we get a good result there, we could even qualify as group leaders.”
The Minifootball World Championship will take place from May 21 to June 1 in Baku.
