Vugar Nadirov, the newly appointed head coach of Shamkir, a team competing in the Second League, has shared his thoughts on his appointment.
Speaking to Idman.biz, Nadirov, a former national team player, said he accepted the offer without hesitation: “When I was invited to Shamkir, I accepted the proposal without thinking.”
Having signed a 1.5-year contract with the regional team, Nadirov stated that his main goal is to restore the team to its former glory: “I have close ties with people at Shamkir. This club is one of Azerbaijan’s oldest teams. Our aim is to revive Shamkir and bring back the disheartened fans to the stands. We plan to accomplish this gradually, over time.”
Nadirov explained that the club has not set specific goals for him yet: “When I was aiming to be one of the best as a player, it’s the same in coaching. The club hasn’t set any specific goals for me yet. My focus is on achieving the best results in the next four matches before the winter break. After that, we will strengthen the team with new players. But I don’t have any thoughts yet on who to sign.”
He also clarified that his departure from Hypers Guba was not due to financial reasons: “These are rumors. It was an internal club matter, and I don’t want to discuss it.”
Nadirov helped Hypers Guba move up from the Regional League to the Second League.
