Azerbaijan could receive up to $25 million from FIFA under record funding plan

Azerbaijan could receive up to $25 million in financial support from FIFA as part of a proposed record $6.35 billion investment program aimed at developing football worldwide over the next four years.

As reported by İdman.Biz, citing FIFA's official website, the initiative was presented at a FIFA Council meeting held in Zurich, Switzerland, on October 15.

Under the proposed plan, each of FIFA's 211 member associations, including the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), would be eligible to receive up to $25 million in funding.

The additional resources are expected to support the development of women's and youth football, improvements to sporting infrastructure, grassroots initiatives and long-term projects designed to strengthen football at national and regional levels.

For Azerbaijan, the potential funding could provide significant opportunities to modernize football facilities, strengthen youth academies and expand development programs across the country.

FIFA plans to finance the increased investment through its financial reserves, including revenue generated by the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which was held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The proposed $6.35 billion allocation would represent a record investment in global football development, reflecting FIFA's efforts to redistribute revenue from its major international competitions to national associations.

However, the $25 million figure represents the maximum potential allocation per association rather than a confirmed payment. The exact amount Azerbaijan could receive will depend on the final terms of the program.

The funding initiative is expected to be finalized in December 2026.
