Former Denmark national team coach Bo Johansson dies aged 83

Former Denmark national football team head coach Bo Johansson has passed away at the age of 83.

As reported by İdman.Biz, citing Danish television channel TV2, the Swedish coach's death was confirmed by his family. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Johansson managed Denmark from 1996 to 2000, overseeing one of the most memorable periods in the national team's modern history.

Under his leadership, Denmark achieved their best-ever result at the FIFA World Cup, reaching the quarterfinals of the 1998 tournament in France.

The Danish side impressed with their attacking football before suffering a narrow 3-2 defeat to eventual finalists Brazil in a thrilling quarterfinal encounter.

However, Johansson's final major tournament with Denmark proved less successful. At UEFA Euro 2000, the team failed to advance beyond the group stage, losing all three matches.

Before taking charge of Denmark, Johansson also enjoyed considerable success at club level.

He guided Swedish club Öster to two domestic league titles and later won the Danish championship with Silkeborg.

Johansson's achievements, particularly Denmark's historic run at the 1998 World Cup, secured his place among the most respected coaches in Danish football history.
