Azerbaijan international admits feeling ashamed after Liechtenstein draw

Azerbaijan international Rahman Dashdamirov has admitted that the national team's disappointing draw against Liechtenstein left the players deeply frustrated and unwilling to communicate even with their families.

As reported by İdman.Biz, the footballer spoke about his career and personal life in an interview with Qafqazinfo alongside his wife.

According to Dashdamirov, the Azerbaijani players struggled to come to terms with the result, believing they were clearly superior to their opponents. Following the match, many put their phones aside and did not even want to speak to their loved ones.

The midfielder admitted that he personally felt ashamed of the result. However, Azerbaijan's subsequent victory over Lithuania helped the squad regain confidence and move past the disappointment.

Dashdamirov also recalled playing at Manchester United's iconic Old Trafford stadium, describing the experience as unforgettable. He was particularly impressed by the atmosphere and the supporters, who applauded good football even when it came from the opposing team.

Despite his side's defeat, the Azerbaijani international admitted that he enjoyed the occasion so much that he did not want the match to end.

Away from football, Dashdamirov emphasized the importance of his family, describing it as his greatest achievement.

"My greatest success in life is my family," he said.

His wife revealed that the couple first met through social media in 2017 and married after approximately five years together. She explained that she had supported Dashdamirov through difficult periods of his career and understood the challenges of being separated during his frequent football-related travels.
