Azerbaijan national team defender Jalal Huseynov, who plays for Romanian club Petrolul, is among the most valuable players in the squad despite struggling to secure a regular starting position.
As reported by İdman.Biz, according to Transfermarkt, the 23-year-old defender has an estimated market value of €700,000 (approximately AZN 1.39 million).
Only Marc Tzoutzou, valued at €750,000 (AZN 1.49 million), ranks above Huseynov in Petrolul's squad.
Interestingly, despite his relatively high market valuation, the Azerbaijani defender is not a regular starter for either Petrolul or the Azerbaijan national team. Nevertheless, he stands out as the only player from the Romanian club to have received a national team call-up.
Meanwhile, Petrolul's total squad market value has increased significantly over the past four months.
At the beginning of the season, the squad was valued at €5.9 million (AZN 11.7 million). That figure has now risen to €7.28 million (approximately AZN 13.8 million), representing an increase of around €1.5 million.
With a 23% rise in squad value, Petrolul have recorded the highest percentage increase among clubs in the Romanian SuperLiga. However, the team still ranks 12th in the league in terms of overall squad market value.
On the pitch, Petrolul have also enjoyed a promising start to the season, collecting 19 points from 11 matches to occupy fourth place in the Romanian championship standings.
Huseynov joined Petrolul from Bulgarian club Arda in June 2026. Since his arrival, he has featured in seven of the club's 11 league matches, starting just once and accumulating a total of 165 minutes on the pitch.
