Inter captain Lautaro Martinez set to miss Milan derby after injury

Inter Milan captain and striker Lautaro Martinez is expected to miss the upcoming Milan derby against AC Milan on October 31 after suffering a muscle injury.

As reported by İdman.Biz, citing Inter's official press service, the Argentine forward underwent clinical and diagnostic examinations at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano.

Medical tests revealed a strain in the muscles at the back of his left thigh.

Martinez sustained the injury during Inter's UEFA Champions League encounter with Club Brugge, in which he scored twice before experiencing physical discomfort.

The Italian club has not provided an official timetable for his recovery. However, according to Sky Sport, the 29-year-old forward is unlikely to return to action until after the November international break.

This would rule him out of the highly anticipated Derby della Madonnina against city rivals AC Milan, scheduled for October 31.

Martinez has been one of Inter's most productive players this season, scoring six goals in seven appearances across all competitions.

His potential absence represents a significant setback for the Nerazzurri, who will have to find alternative attacking solutions during a crucial period of the domestic and European campaigns.
