The Azerbaijani national team, which successfully represented the country in the European Championship among boxers under 22 years of age in Budva, Montenegro, has returned to Azerbaijan.

Idman.biz reports that the delegation was welcomed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport by the staff of the Boxing Federation, employees of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, representatives of the sports community, boxers and family members of athletes.

Elbrus Rzayev, the coach of the U-22 men's national team, said that the European Championship was interesting and intense. According to him, the members of our team, who prepared well for the competition, fulfilled their hopes: "We set a new record in the number of medals at the European Championship. The team achieved this by obtaining 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals. Until now, at best, they have reached the podium 4 times. The final fight of Nijat Huseynov was very intense. But we believed that he would win. The other boxers also suffered a lot. We were satisfied with everyone's performance. Tural Sariyev's meeting with the Russian boxer also involved some injustices. Otherwise, he could have won the gold medal as well. I hope that the number of our awards will increase in the next competitions."

Defending the title of European Champion Nijat Huseynov (51 kg) said that he finished each of his 4 matches with a confident victory. He said that he was psychologically ready for the fight with the Armenian Rudolf Garboyan in the final. That's why I entered the ring very comfortably. I was only thinking about victory and I achieved it."

Other prize winners of the competition, Azrak Babirov (57 kg), Tural Sariyev (48 kg), Murad Allahverdiyev (80 kg) and Marjona Savriyeva (50 kg) evaluated their performance and expressed confidence that they will improve their medals in the next competitions. They said that they want to return to their homeland as champions from the upcoming tournaments.

It should be noted that Nijat Huseynov (51 kg), who set a new record by winning 5 medals at the European Championship, won the title of the continent's strongest for the second time. Azrak Babirov (57 kg) won silver, Tural Sariyev (48 kg), Murad Allahverdiyev (80 kg) and Marjona Savriyeva (50 kg) won bronze medals.
