Azerbaijani boxer Banu Chichek Nasirli has reached the semifinals of the U19 European Championship in Loznica, Serbia.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation announced that Nasirli, competing in the 48kg weight category, faced Poland's Katarzyna Gornisiewicz in the quarterfinals.
The Azerbaijani boxer defeated her opponent 3-2, with the judges scoring the bout 30-27, 28-29, 28-29, 30-27 and 29-28.
By advancing to the semifinals, Nasirli has guaranteed herself at least a bronze medal at the European Championship.
She will face Ireland's Ellen Joyce on August 20 for a place in the final.
Four more Azerbaijani boxers are due to compete in their quarterfinal bouts today.
