The opening ceremony of the Southern Regional Boxing Center took place today in Lankaran.
The event was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Vice President of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation (ABF) Vusal Nasirli, Head of Lankaran City Executive Power Taleh Garashov, and other officials, Idman.biz reports.
Guests toured the facility and observed training sessions and sparring matches by young boxers. Minister Gayibov and Vice President Nasirli provided feedback and guidance during the visit.
The center, built by the ABF, is equipped with state-of-the-art boxing equipment. Spanning over 2.5 hectares, the complex includes a two-story administrative building. On the first floor, a training hall and two rings are available for athletes. The facility also includes a coaches' meeting room, two locker rooms, a gym, and a mini football field.
One of the ABF’s core objectives is to boost regional interest in boxing, increase participation, and strengthen the sport's infrastructure across the country. In addition to this new center, the Baku Boxing Center and the Boxing Training Center at the Sumgayit City Stadium are also in operation.
