The Azerbaijan Boxing Federation has issued a statement regarding the events that took place during the final bout between Yusif Aghakishiyev and Viktor Majstorovic in the 75 kg weight category at the European Schoolboys Boxing Championship held in Zlatibor, Serbia.
The federation stated that appropriate measures would be taken in accordance with regulations regarding the technical director Khamza Avezov, who had a dispute with the head referee Stefan Cubalevski during the match, Idman.biz reports.
“In the final bout, technical director Khamza Avezov acted inappropriately according to sports ethics, and appropriate action will be taken against him in line with the instructions and rules of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation. In the mentioned fight, the North Macedonian referee Stefan Cubalevski demonstrated a biased attitude, prioritizing personal interests and committing fraud by robbing our boxer of a clear victory. He deprived him of the championship title. In this regard, as a federation, we are preparing an appeal to the relevant international organization to take action against the referee,” the statement read.
The video of the referee’s biased behavior, deliberate interference, and the denial of the Azerbaijani boxer’s victory has also been shared.
