New details have been released regarding the condition of Italian gymnast Lorenzo Bonicelli, who suffered a serious injury during competitions at the Universiade held in Germany.
Idman.biz, citing the website of the Italian Gymnastics Federation, reports that Bonicelli’s condition is stable and his life is not in danger.
He has been brought out of an induced coma and is showing signs of recovery. The gymnast is currently in intensive care.
The 23-year-old athlete was injured during the men’s all-around team competition in artistic gymnastics at the Universiade, after falling on his neck. He underwent surgery and was placed in an induced coma.
