Real Madrid defender to face trial after his dog allegedly attacked teenager

Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy is set to stand trial following an incident in which one of his dogs allegedly attacked a teenager.

As reported by İdman.Biz, citing Sport.es, a Madrid criminal court has scheduled the trial of the French international for December 21.

The incident occurred on January 4, 2023, when four dogs belonging to Mendy reportedly escaped from his property without supervision.

According to court documents, one of the animals bit a 17-year-old teenager on the leg. The dog also attacked two other dogs, one of which suffered injuries so severe that it subsequently had to be euthanized.

Mendy faces a charge related to causing bodily injury in connection with the incident.

According to the report, prosecutors are seeking a €1,200 fine for the footballer, along with a total of €5,700 in compensation for the victims.

The 31-year-old French defender has been a Real Madrid player since joining the Spanish giants from Lyon in 2019. During his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, he has won several major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League and La Liga titles.

The final decision in the case will be made by the court following the legal proceedings.
