Former Azerbaijan international Branimir Subašić has expressed his support for Neftçi ahead of their highly anticipated derby against Qarabağ.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the 44-year-old former striker shared his expectations for the upcoming clash in an interview with Sport24.az.
"I will definitely be supporting Neftçi against Qarabağ. Neftçi have been very impressive this season. I believe the team will play even better in the near future because they deserve better results. Neftçi will always remain the flagship of Azerbaijani football. Come on, Neftçi!" Subašić said.
The former forward also revealed that he had watched Neftçi's goalless draw against Sabah in the previous round of the Azerbaijan Premier League and was satisfied with the team's performance.
"I also watched Neftçi's match against Sabah. The team played well, and the players deserve praise for their efforts. I think Neftçi can beat Qarabağ, and I hope they do," he added.
The upcoming encounter carries particular significance in the race for the Azerbaijan Premier League title, with Qarabağ, Neftçi and Sabah competing closely at the top of the standings.
The Qarabağ-Neftçi derby will take place on October 17 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 local time.
