Events related to the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijani athletics continue.
Idman.biz reports that today the leadership of the European Athletics Association and the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation visited the grave of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honor.
Officials commemorated the National Leader by placing wreaths and flowers in front of his grave. Also, the memory of outstanding ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva was commemorated with respect. Then the Alley of Martyrs was visited to commemorate the heroes of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Later, the opening ceremony of the athletics throwing training base was held at the stadium of secondary school No. 226 in Amirjan settlement.
European Athletics Association President Dobromir Karamarinov, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Deputy Mariana Vasileva, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov, Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade, President of Azerbaijan Athletics Federation Javid Gurbanov, President of Balkan Athletics Slobodan Brankovic and Fatih Chintimar, president of the Athletics Federation of Turkiye participated. This facility has hammer throw, javelin, discus throw, shot put, long jump and running tracks for the use of athletes.
The opening ceremony of the new office of the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation was also held today.
